The curriculum at QuestKids Academy is designed to provide students with a wide range of academic, communication, social, leisure and practical skills to give them a well-rounded education that will lead them toward productive lives and greater independence. The curriculum focuses on the individual needs of each child and appeals to each student’s learning style. Students are given placement tests and are grouped by similar academic levels into the appropriate lesson. In addition to group learning, students participate in individualized ABA therapy each day. The daily schedule is listed below.
The teaching tools used at QuestKids Academy include Language for Learning, Reading Mastery, Handwriting Without Tears, TouchPoint Math and Connecting Math Concepts.
Language for Learning Language for Learning is a language program designed to teach young pre-readers language, concepts, information and knowledge that will be beneficial to them in a classroom setting as they are learning to read. The program uses an explicit instructional approach, entailing scripted lessons, signaled responses, immediate error correction, cumulative review and mastery learning.
Reading Mastery Reading Mastery is designed to provide systematic instruction in English language reading. The program begins by teaching phonemic awareness and sound-letter correspondence and progresses to word and passage reading, vocabulary development, comprehension and building oral reading fluency.
Handwriting Without Tears Handwriting Without Tears is a proven success in making legible and fluent handwriting an easy and automatic skill for all students. Handwriting Without Tears uses fun, entertaining, and educationally sound instructional methods to teach handwriting to all students. This developmentally-based program utilizes engaging hands-on materials and lively music to inspire active learning, enhance academic achievement and build self-esteem.
TouchPoint Math TouchPoint Math is a multisensory program that uses its signature TouchPoints to engage students of all abilities and learning styles. Using pictorial objects and TouchPoints, children learn to associate numerals with real values and actual number quantities. Once children learn the meaning of numerals and TouchPoint patterns, they can quickly use their counting skills to add two or more numbers.
Connecting Math Concepts Connecting Math Concepts is a comprehensive developmental mathematics program designed to teach students to compute, solve problems and think mathematically. Focusing on the big ideas of mathematics, Connecting Math Concepts teaches explicit strategies that enable students to master difficult ideas by introducing them gradually and teaching students the connections between concepts.
